Donald Trump has won the U.S. presidential elections by a surprisingly large margin.

The Republicans won the Senate. As of the time of our recording, the race in the House was still open.

We have shocked reactions coming from the EU.

We ourselves wrote this morning that we think the EU, despite of its pretenses, is not really prepared for a Trump victory.

The commission we know has made some planning about trade policy.

There was scenario planning that took place.

But political preparation at the highest level, I did not see any evidence for that.

Jack, did you see anything?

I think you could see various different people warning that on certain things the EU would

need to get its act to get, like on defense and security spending, maybe less so on trade.

In terms of kind of concrete plan, I don't think they're really there yet.

There would have needed to have been a more concerted effort to think about how we would deal

with more of our security and support Ukraine too without needing the U.S. as well. Plus on trade,

like if Trump does anything like what he's saying he's going to do, it's going to be very,

very difficult. And I think that's going to require a much larger conversation than just

about retaliation and countermeasures, which I think have been discussed, but it's more of an issue of our kind

of increasing reliance on America, on trade too.

What I'm hearing from Washington, D.C. is that Trump is serious. It's very different to 2016.

The result is similar in some of the states. But the candidate is very different.

His speech today was different from his acceptance speech in 2016. At the time, he seemed shocked
