Today we would like to talk about Trump, the Trump administration that's taking shape, what it will mean for Europe, what it will mean for Ukraine.

I've just come back from a trip to the United States and I was struck by a couple of things.

One of the things that struck me is how Americans had kind of moved on from this election.

I had expected much more backbiting, much more accusations.

And we saw a little bit of that in the first few days.

But the general realization is certainly among Democrats is that it will take

a while until they figure out where they want to go and with what kind of leadership they want

to go and this is not something they are in a rush over to decide at this point. They will not have a

majority in either the Senate or the House of Representatives. The House is still not decided, but

the probability is now such that it would be completely unreasonable to expect any surprises

that the Republicans will be in charge of both and with small majorities. But the important

thing is that the Senate majority leader and the Speaker of

the House have agenda setting power. So they will be able to table timings for legislation and even

decide what kind of legislation is put in front of the House. So this is an enormous power. It's

not just about relative majorities between two parties. So the Trump administration has a pretty clear run ahead.

It's also better organized. Trump has appointed Susie Wildes, his deputy or the co-leader of

his campaign, a very experienced Republican political strategist

with a lot of experience from Florida. As his chief of staff, she will bring some discipline

both to the appointment process but also to the management of the West Wing. That will make

this Trump two administration likely very different from the

Trump One administration.
