Summary

When someone betrays you, it’s easy to believe they get to move on with their life while you’re left carrying the pain. In this episode, Jillian challenges that belief and explains why no one truly “gets away” with the harm they cause—because the psyche always remembers. She explores how unresolved guilt, shame, and avoidance show up in our bodies, relationships, and mental health, and why letting go of the story about someone else is one of the most powerful steps toward your own healing. It's going to come up in our shame.

Just know that whatever story you're telling yourself about them,

you don't have the whole picture. You just have to focus on you and your healing. So like if

you've been ghosted, guaranteed that person is haunted by their own ghost.

And again, people can suppress it, but it's going to show up.

You know, the human psyche keeps a record.

The conscious mind might forget or try to forget.

1:25.8

And like I said, it will justify.

1:28.3

It will, it may construct elaborate explanations and stories

that allow a person to see themselves as like, you know,

1:39.5

the hero or just not the villain.

But underneath that narrative, beneath the rationalizations,

1:48.1

beneath the self-protective story,

the subconscious keeps score, and it does not forget.

And it shows up in anxiety that we can't really explain. It'll show up for someone in sleepless nights.

2:09.3

It'll show up as like this like gnawing persistent shame that lingers in the background of a person's life.
