Hi, I'm Dora and welcome to Radio Headspace and Wednesday.

For today's episode, I want to challenge this idea of bad days.

Personally, I think that we give bad days too much credit.

Was it truly a bad day or did we just have a horrible moment that has now taken hold of that entire day?

I can remember when I had one of those moments while working in the hospital, an environment that's high stressed and fast paced.

There isn't really much time to pause and re-center or so I thought, so the bad day began on my way to work.

I used to head gone to the bus stop and realized that I left my bus pass at home, which made me miss my usual bus.

And this was nobody's fault but my own.

I hadn't done my usual night preparation where I get all my things together and leave them by the door.

So I was late and when I arrived at work, I was given my patient assignment for the day, where the head nurse will assign you three to four patients that you stay close to and work with throughout your entire shift.

I was new on the unit that I was working on and also fresh out of school, which meant I was the rookie.

This also meant that the client load I had was filled with clients who the other nurses didn't really care to work with.

Great. Still upset about leaving my bus pass at home, I spent the entire day dredging through my shift.

When my patients asked how my day was going, I said horrible. I was still stuck at the bus stop.
