Hi moms, this is Heidi St. John. I'm going to wrap up our series on friendship today by

kind of taking a little bit different spin on a story that you all have probably heard

before. I am talking about the story of Ananias and Safira, and it can be found in Acts

5, verses 1 through 11 if you want to to look that up. Now for those of you who aren't

familiar with the story, I'll just give you a little bit of a little bit of backdrop.

This is a chilling account, really, of the sudden deaths of Ananias and his wife, Safira,

and it shows us how severely God deals with sin, especially a church members and their

lack of integrity. But I want to pull something else out of it. What's happened in this

story is that Ananias and Safira have done what they've sold some land, and they have

come and given it to the church. They're trying to show how awesome they are, and they give

they say all the money to the church. But in fact, Ananias kept part of the money back

for himself. So literally, he embezzled from the sale price. So you see how God deals

with their sin. I mean, that's pretty clear. But what I want to show you is something different.
