Nischala Devi, author of The Secret Power of Yoga: A Woman's Guide to the Heart and Spirit of the Yoga Sutras, joins the podcast and brings J some inspiration and joy. They talk about her many years in ascetic life, the process of leaving it, new paths forged since, and what its like to translate Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras from a woman’s perspective. They also discuss the evolution of yoga from its beginnings as an alternative lifestyle into a mainstream industry, and what might be needed to retain the heart and soul of the practice.

This is Yoga Talks podcast. My name is Jay Brown. Welcome to you. How's it going? Are you okay? Let's just take a moment, everyone. Let's just take a moment. Are we okay? Because it kind of feels like the world is falling apart. Am I the only one who's been feeling like the world is falling apart?

I don't know. It's been crazy, yeah?

I mean, I don't even know what to say right now.

It's just the whole thing. It's so absurd.

filled with so many curveballs. I wouldn't even know which one to talk about. There was too many. And, you know,

this is coming out on the day of the eclipse. And maybe that's, that has something to do with it.

Like, things are wacky right now.

But I am told that this eclipse is supposed to be marking new beginnings.

And I'm just going to hold that close to my heart right now and carry on because I don't know what else we would do,
