A government in a cause heralded by progressives went down to electoral defeat,

and US allies in the South Pacific will be better for it, writes the journal.

Don't believe the press that these victories are for the forces of reaction.

New Zealand voters moved to the right,

announcing their labor government after six years in power.

The Center Right National Party, led by a former airline executive Christopher Luxon,

is in a strong position after winning some 39% of the vote.
