Mexico headline, these last hours.

U.S. pushes Mexico to prosecute politicians with ties to drug cartels. This is organized crime. This is the

cartels that prey upon not only the migrants smuggling human beings and trafficking in human

beings, but also moving lots of weapons and lots of drugs into the United States.

Trump administration pressuring Mexico to investigate and prosecute politicians with suspected links to organized crime,

to extradite them to the United States if there are criminal charges,

according to sources familiar with the matter.

This is not the violence of Los Angeles.

This is not the immigration story, professor, and yet it is.

All told, the Trump administration is making demands of Mexico that continue to escalate.

Not only the tariff demands and the what you'd have to say de facto renegotiation of the

USMCA but doubts about the Mexicans doing adequate protection for the border on their side

taking the returned Mexicans and others that are pushed back across the border or deported. And also,

over these last days, Mexico has been pained to watch the violence on television from Los Angeles,

knowing that all those Mexican flags being waived by the protesters in, what should say, a challenge to Washington, or also a challenge

to the patriotic people of Mexico. What are you going to do about it? Chloe's Scheinbaum has criticized

violence on both sides. That is not answering the larger question. Is Mexico doing what it can

about drugs? What it can about the cartels? what it can about the cartels, what it can

about politicians who have been either influenced by cash or frightened by guns and allow this

to go on in their towns and districts, especially along the north? Is there an answer to that?
