The New World Report, Professor Evan Ellis of the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute,

to help me understand the Iranian conflict in the Americas.

Evan, a very good day to you. We have in Iran much changed in threat level since the attacks by Israel

and then the strike by the U.S. and now the promise of negotiations over defanging the Iranian state in the

region, but also we look to the Americas. What I have over the years is that Iran is much involved

in various important states in the Americas, always a different story. And sometimes it's the

surrogate for Iran, Hezbollah of Lebanon. Sometimes it's Iranian agents themselves, operating

over 20 or 30 years. The first instance, I have of Iran's storied presence, these are all stories.

They're not rumors, but they're not proved. Is the bombing in Buenos Aires in 1994 as a retaliation

to what was presumed some level of threat to Iran or Hizpala back in the Middle East.

That led to years of investigations that went nowhere until a prosecutor named Alberto

Niseman in Argentina in the second decade of the 21st century took took up the investigation, and then was found dead.

This is 2015.

That is the first instance I have in memory of questions raised about Iran, its agents, and its bad acting in Latin America.

Is that the beginning, Professor, what do we need to know about Iran in all of the Americas,

especially Argentina?
