Brazil's been in the news these last

weeks unhappily because of flooding at Rio Grande du Sol. Ernesto's helping me

learn the states of Brazil. This is the southernmost state, heavily agriculture, and its rivers

overflowed, was not able to handle the flood that hit the big cities and the little cities, damaging everything,

cars, tens of thousands of cars damaged with water,

people driven from their homes, people who are with,

are wandering now and and with the wandering in this part of

Brazil was no place to go these are not Brazilian citizens they've been living

there at the permission of the government or not.

We now have a report of illness, waterborne illnesses.

Waterborne diseases are now at risk in Brazil's southernmost state. Residents begin to

return to flooded homes. Rains has started in April 12 several rivers and

lakes leading to this crisis. Leptosperiosis, a disease largely caused by

the presence of urine of infected rats in standing water, currently health

officials biggest concern.

Since the rain, seven people have died from the disease, another 10 deaths or under investigation

as possible causes.
