On today's show, we are talking about a major shake-up on the Jets coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand is out after one season. ESPN's Adam Schepter broke the news yesterday. It's officially being termed a mutual parting of ways. We're going to talk about all the implications of this move past, present, and future.

Past, why this ultimately is the correct decision.

It may be controversial, but the Jets did need to move on from Engstrand.

Future, a potential new top candidate has emerged to replace Engstrand.

We'll talk about whether that would be a good

move for the Jets. But we'll begin by talking about the present. I think like so many Jets moves in the

past, this is the correct decision, but the timing is just off. If you follow the Jets over the last

decade plus, I think you know what I'm talking about. We could go back to 2019, where the Jets retained the last decade plus, I think you know what I'm talking about.

They let him run free agency.

And in that free agency that year, the Jets spent a record amount of money in free agency.

They essentially set the roster for two full seasons.

They let McAgnon run the draft, the draft where the Jets had the third overall selection, and he drafted Quinn and Williams to his credit. And then after all that, they fired him. And they essentially said, you know what, we realized McAgnon was the wrong guy for the job. After they let him spend all that money, after they let him use all those resources. As you probably know, Sam Donald is in the Super Bowl. He's playing for

the Seattle Seahawks, not the New York Jets. Donald was the Jets third overall pick in 2018, and he

failed as the Jets drafted him high as a quarterback. They thought he was going to be the franchise
