the New York Jets with new episodes each day through the week, Monday through Friday. On today's show, we're talking about the Senior Bowl. There is a week of practices this week in Mobile, Alabama, with the top prospects in the NFL draft leading up to a game on Saturday, the Senior Bowl. We're going to talk about players. The Jets should keep their eyes on throughout the week. I think there are three groups of players. Number one, players with all the tools needed to make a big step

1:15.3

forward this weekend, raise their draft stock. Group two, players who have flash some skills, but now

1:20.7

have an opportunity to show that their game is fully rounded. And group three, players from small

1:26.4

schools who now have a chance to show that they can compete against the best college football has to offer against the best prospects in the NFL draft.

1:33.4

We'll begin by talking about the first group.

And if you're not familiar with the way the college football season works and the draft process works, this is a very important week on the calendar.

It's called the Senior Bowl. It's considered the most prestigious of the college football all-star games. And the way all-star games work in college football is different from other sports. It's not like, you know, the NFL, which has the Pro Bowl, even though they don't really play a full regulation football game anymore, or the NBA All-Star game or the Major League Baseball All-Star game, where they're bringing in the best players from the sport to compete against each other. In college football, the All-Star games are for draft prospects, and it's a chance for these guys to measure themselves against other elite prospects. And the Senior Bowl is considered the best. If you get an invite to the Senior Bowl, you are considered an elite prospect. That's not to say if you don't get an invite to the senior bowl that your career is over. There have been plenty of players who have turned out to be quality players in the NFL who did not go to the senior bowl. But the senior bowl is now the number one college all-star game. Was not always that way. You know, when I was growing up, there were other games. One was the Hula Bowl. One, there used to be a game called the Blue Gray game. But now the

2:38.7

senior bowl is kind of the number one. It's the one you really want to go to if you are a prospect.

2:44.4

And the week is a chance for teams to evaluate. And if we're being honest, overanalyzed in many cases, these prospects.

2:53.5

A lot of coaches and scouts will tell you that they actually put more weight on what happens

2:58.5

in the practice sessions than they do on the game Saturday. So with all of that in context,

3:04.7

let's talk about some of the key players to watch this week for the New York Jets.
