Hello and welcome to Hot Masterpiece Theater, the show for high-brow conversations about low-brow TV, mainly reality TV.

Happy New Year, everyone. I'm your host, Jolenta Greenberg. I'm a comedian and culture critic, and on this show, I act as a reality TV dramaturg. That means I sort of act as a researcher who talks about background information and helps put art in cultural context, art in this case being reality TV.

Because I have a theory, and I think you'll agree with me, reality TV is no

different from any other form of storytelling. It tells juicy, dramatic, salacious stories

just like Shakespeare did and Greek mythology. So why are we acting like it's garbage when it's

not? Let's take it seriously. Today, for a new year's treat, we're doing

another episode of Hot Topic Hot Takes or what I'm calling HT squared because no one has told me

what else to call this and it was the first thing that came to my mind. I know it's kind of a

shitty name but now I just keep calling it HT squared in my head. I'm going to hit up some hot topics today because we're all on break.
