Hello and welcome to Hot Masterpiece Theater, the place for highbrow conversations about lowbrow

entertainment, mainly reality TV. Because let's face it, reality TV isn't garbage. It is a repackaging of the same

stories we've been telling since the beginning of time. And the stories we see on the real

housewives and Survivor aren't much different from stories we've heard in Shakespeare and Greek

mythology. And I'm here to help legitimize the stories we're seeing and put

them in cultural context. The way a dramaturg does for a piece of theater, that's what we're

doing here at Hot Masterpiece Theater. And today, we're doing a little Christmas treat because

this episode is coming out on Christmas, a holiday treat for those who don't

celebrate Christmas. And here's what we're going to do. We are going to take a look at the

self-help book written by the newest real housewife of Beverly Hills, Amanda Francis, called Rich as

Thuck. Because, fun fact, I have a special background in reading self-help books. If you've been

subscribed to this podcast feed since before this show started, you would know that I used to host a

show called By the Book, where I lived by self-help books religiously for two weeks at a time,

and did a sort of reality TV style reporting back on whether or not those books changed my life.

So I feel uniquely qualified to take a little gander at Amanda's book because I have a background in self-help and reality TV.

So this is like a beautiful marriage of my passions.

Her book is called Rich as Fuck, More Money Than You Know What to Do With.

First of all, I'd like to say she's doing a now classic self-help move that's been pretty overplayed for about a decade and change, but some people still think it's cool, and that is
