Well, welcome along to the Gary Neville podcast, which is coming to you tonight from Old Trafford, where Gary and I have just seen Manchester United from the brink of victory.

Drop two points to a late equalizer from Michael Obafirmy of Southampton.

But do you think that Southampton, in all fairness, deserve that point, Gary?

No, I think they do abstaining in the game.

They couldn't have complained if Manchester United hadn't taken a couple of the chances. They had probably better chances over the evening.

But it was a really good performance from Southampton. When I think back where they were,

was it last October when they lost 9-0 and we were at that game, you think how far they've

come in terms of the team shape, the way in which they approach the games to today.

They've moved such a long way and I think Ralph Harsson Houtel deserves all the credit that he's

getting at the moment. A win against Manchester City, a really good performance here tonight.

And when you say that Manchester United had better chances and that they had probably the

better of the game, you have expected that before. The first 20 minutes Southampton were on top, fantastic, really good, so tight and compacting

their defending.

They were really alert.

Looked like they were coiled springs just ready to go and pounce on Manchester United.

They got the first goal from that.

And in the end, they just hung in there.

They stuck at it.

They defended well.

And they were pushing.

They always looked dangerous.

They were crisping the passing.
