The fight between makers of generative models and chatbots against news publishers

continues as one of both war and peace.

We start with the war side. The New York Times is suing perplexity

for copyright infringement due to crawling the New York Times website without permission and

allegedly outputting New York Times stories in verbatim or near verbbatim written responses.

Times also alleges that perplexity damaged the Times brand by creating false content attributed to the Times.
