Recently, there's been a lot of news about the flock safety license plate readers.

You might hear it called flock surveillance or cameras in your neighborhood or something like that.

We talked about it

recently on DTNS Live. And we got a really good email from Mike, who is a 17-year police officer

who supervises a squad of detectives assigned to investigate violent crimes and works with these cameras

and has worked in and around these cameras and used evidence that comes from

these cameras and very kindly agreed to come on and talk to us about his experience. He doesn't

work for flock. He's not representing any organization in particular. These are just his own

experiences working with this stuff. Mike, thanks for joining us, man. Oh, thank you for having me. I appreciate it. So tell us a little bit about, you know,

first of all, your experience with these cameras. And I know you want to talk a little bit about

some of the things that people may misunderstand about them. Yeah. So in recent times,

the use of these cameras has really, it has

increased quite a bit. And that's one part of the news reporting that is very true. They've been

rolled out initially, they were more purchased by governments and managed by governments,

but as private industry has become part of that collaboration, they sometimes

will front the cost of the hardware and sell it as a subscription, which on the tech side,

you guys are very aware subscription or the service technology as a service. They understood that

there is a profit motive there, but also there is a public safety benefit

genuinely because we were the ones who were looking into these technologies many years ago
