Let's start with what you need to know with the big story.

Apparently, the big story is not the metaverse in the world of technology.

Meta is planning steep cuts to its metaverse efforts.

That would include Reality Labs virtual reality that would also include

horizon worlds unit discussions are considering a reported reduction of up to 30% for those groups in

2026 so that's a pretty sizable shift if it is to happen, right? This is all happening kind of internally.

Many of the layoffs in these groups could happen as early as January. So pretty soon, right

around the corner. The Metaverse unit apparently has lost more than $70 billion since 2021.

You might remember that's when Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO announced the company

rebrand to meta.

Remember when that was just a couple of years ago, really?

Feels like forever.

And pitched a metaverse focus for the future of the company and my how things have changed in just a couple of

years not only that we've got investor pressure um kind of you know pushing the scales or weighing

down the scales to say hey it's time to move on that's coupled with i'd say a lack of

really meaningful competitive interest in this category.
