This is Scott Carrier sitting on my porch in Salt Lake City.

Last time I was pretty worried and said I needed to talk to people about the situation,

the condition of our country, and I thought I should start close to home with my next door neighbor, Sarah Salmon.

She has a two-year-old boy and a brand new baby girl.

We sat at her kitchen table while the baby was sleeping.

I feel like we're doing okay. We're sleeping a little bit more than most.

Last night we got five hours for the first time.

So I slept more than three hours in one go for the first time in five weeks.

I hope you can use any of this because I'm pretty sleep deprived.

I'm not really making a ton of sense to myself.

I can't really complete a sentence.

I'm really worried about climate change. I'm guessing

that this place is not going to be habitable for that much longer. Why? Because the lake is

drying over and toxic dust is blowing in and there's no water and the mountains aren't getting snow and

it just seems like it's not going to be a place where people can be healthy and stay and live

So how do you feel about Trump in his administration?

Personally, I don't agree with a ton of what he's doing.

And then professionally, I work at the University of Utah supporting grants in research.

And one of the grants that we helped win was just canceled.
