Summary

#232. Navigating friendships, especially as females in our 20s, is something that isn't talked about enough, even more so, when it comes to friendship breakups. Lan is sharing her perspective on how to maintain those long time friendships, navigating growing apart, breaking up with a friend, and finding new friends. Most importantly, emphasizing that quality over quantity is our goal here. Enjoy! x

Hello, good morning and welcome back or welcome to Morning Ray.

0:07.5

I'm your host, Lan, or Alana, and today's episode is all about friendships, specifically

0:13.1

female friendships and friendships in your 20s.

0:16.7

I feel like I get asked so many questions about how to meet girls in your 20s, how to meet friends, how to maintain friendships, how to find deeper connections, especially in adulthood.

0:28.9

And I feel like this is something that isn't talked about enough.

0:32.7

We talk so much about dating and careers, but not enough about what it feels like when your friendship starts

0:40.0

shifting, when people drift, when you feel lonely, when you realize you're not as close to the

0:44.9

people who once felt like family, or maybe you move to a new city and you're trying to feel

0:49.2

grounded and create that social circle again. And just like the things that go through and happen in your 20s,

0:56.7

especially as a female. I feel like guys. And I'm sorry if you're a guy and you're listening to

1:00.9

this and maybe you don't relate and that's okay. But I feel like all the guys that I know are still

1:06.6

friends with the same like five or however many people they have been friends with four years,

1:11.8

either since elementary school, middle school, high school, university, they're all still

1:17.5

friends with those same people. Like their core group of friends is pretty much the same. Whereas I

1:23.1

feel like with girls, because our relationships are so much deeper and more emotional and there's so much

1:29.9

more vulnerability and like I can't think of another word as opposed to depth as compared to

1:35.9

male friendships. I feel like there's a lot more drama and fallouts and growing apart and

1:43.1

things that happen and change as we get older and as we mature

1:46.7

and grow up and all these things. And so if you're feeling like your friendships are in a weird

1:53.0

place right now or you're in that in between space of outgrowing old connections while still

1:58.8

looking for your new people, I want you to know that you're not

2:01.6

alone. I'm someone who has definitely been through my fair share of friendships. I have my friends
