Monday. So Monday is just that special day, right? It's the first day of the week and it can be full of

dread or it can be the opposite and be thoroughly full of excitement me personally I like to bring my energy to the latter. And for sure,

there tends to be a sort of anticipatory energy with Mondays. What's going to happen? What's to come? And this is perfectly okay. It's

human nature to think this way. However, if we're not careful, this anticipatory energy can become overwhelming.

How can mindfulness and meditation help us to manage those moments of high anticipation?

So this idea of high anticipation brings me to an experience I had when I recently went on a week-long silent retreat. This retreat was located at Big Bear Retreat Center in Big Bear, California.

So as this retreat at Big Bear was getting closer and closer day by day,

I became fully aware of the anticipation and even the nervousness I was increasingly

feeling. And it was starting to affect how I was moving in my everyday life. I recall on more than one occasion I found

myself just staring out into deep space, pondering how this retreat was going to play out.

Was I going to be okay with the immense silence?

Will I lose my mind?

How will the food be?

And so it just went on and on and on. I was making up stories in my head based on the

fear and expectation that I was feeling. As human beings this is just what we do.
