NATO, I repeat what I've been told that the U.S. may withdraw.

The European point of view is it will withdraw.

The U.S. may move to the back of the room and let somebody else take

the lead, or the may leave the room and let a surrogate stand in for the U.S. We'll sell

you weapons, but we're not going to get involved with surveillance or intelligence gathering

or targeting or good missiles. But there was also life after NATO.

Is Europe getting ready to take control of its own security?

Can you sense that?

All this talk in Germany and in France and in Britain?

Is that going anywhere?

Well, I think it's going somewhere.

You know, undoubtedly there is more spending on the military, and there will be more military

production.

But, I mean, there are huge problems.

I mean, one of them is just with recruiting the troops.

You know, there have been serious military analysis, you know, by retired military officers,

which has said that, you know, Europe, you know, all of Europe put together,

would have great difficulty even in finding 25,000 troops to send to Ukraine from the whole of Europe. That's all

they could manage. You know, the British and the French are the leading, you know, consider the

leading military powers, but they can only produce one brigade each. And former head of the
