I'm John Batch with my colleague Anatole Levin, who is in his native Britain.

He's been traveling across Europe, and we turn from Ukraine to Brussels.

Mark Rudy is the general secretary of Brussels, and he's been very clear.

I believe he was speaking at the Chatham House in London,

and he said that he expects NATO expects Russia to attack a NATO nation within the next few years.

I believe he mentioned 2030.

That would trigger a generalized war.

And the question Mr. Rudy raised is, are we ready? The answer is no. And so everybody went to their industrial base and started planning. In addition to the five percent, they pledged,

three and a half for armament, one and a half for infrastructure. However, I learned some facts

since then, and I wanted to bring them up to Anatol, because I've learned, according to inform people in the British military, retired or active,

in the whole of the arsenal for the British Army, there are 14 or 24 howitzers.

I can't remember which number comes first.

And in the whole of the arsenal for the UK, there are 74 tanks of various types.

I'm also told there are 18 admirals or commodores for every ship. That is not somebody preparing for war by 2030.

This may or may not reflect other armies that are potential, Germany, France, Italy.

But it doesn't sound like Mr. Rudy is being listened to.

How to measure this what Rudy says versus what's available?

Well, I think, you know, what Rudy says is, I mean, how on earth does he know that the Putin regime has any such plans?

They've denied it again and again.

It seems deeply counterintuitive.
