Joining us on the podcast today is Nancy Sun, co-founder and chief engineer at Ike robotics, a self-driving truck

startup based in the Bay Area.

Nancy's obviously working in the autonomous vehicle space now, but she started her career on the electric vehicle side of things.

And Leslie, before we get to our conversation with Nancy,

I'm curious, there's been so much EV news this week

that, especially coming out of California

with the new regulations that are on the horizon.

Leslie, I'm curious what your take on that is and how does, how is the automotive industry set to respond kind of in terms of the product that is bringing

to the market in terms of electric vehicles?

Well, just to catch everybody up, California is planning to basically end sales of gasoline

burning vehicles by 2035.

And this of course is expected to have a ripple effect nationwide.

You know, if history is any guided,

you can only look to the effect that California has had on emissions standards with

several states you know joining California just over the last five decades or so.

So we're going to start seeing the effects within the state and that's going to be well

before you know this deadline of 2035 you'll see some automakers that are basically dragging their feet on battery electric vehicles really start to step up to the plate because obviously California is a huge market and it's a very important market. There's a bunch of changes just in general happening with

EVs. I mean right now we're seeing electrification migrate itself into the types of vehicles

that are really hot on the market now, namely

crossover vehicles. Because before, electric vehicles, I think you more or less had
