Everyone has a family member with a haunted house.

For me, it's my uncle's house. My uncle lived in a very eastern part of New York. He was a neurologist in NYC. He enjoyed spending money, so it was no surprise he bought a large house with an interesting history.

When he would host large parties, at some point in the night he'd tell us that the house was built in the 1800s by a very wealthy family.

The family had a very favorable public persona.

The husband and wife prided themselves on being philanthropists and humanitarian. They enjoyed putting together events for the

community to help raise awareness to whatever issue concern their

neighbors. The man of the house even promised that house to a stableman that worked for them once they decided to move.

He even liked to joke that the place may even be haunted.

Then my uncle would let out a big laugh when he would tell this so loud that we would just assume everything he said was a joke.

Yet, whenever we stayed in my uncle's house, we would hear noises as if things were being moved around in other rooms.

We just laugh off the noises, thinking that things were settling in the house.

One night, my uncle's friend and her sister stayed over.

His friend noticed a maid bringing towels downstairs when she woke up.

As his friend got ready for the day, she saw the maid heading downstairs again,

this time carrying what looked like a percolator.

Well, his friend was so impressed that my uncle hired staff.

Sometime later that day, while they were all chatting, my uncle's friend asked him where the maid went.

Was the maid cooking breakfast?

My uncle had no idea what his friend was talking about.

He asked what the maid looked like.

After his friend explained he laughed that loud laugh again, he walked
