Summary

After ten years of history podcasting, I've come across many remarkable and fascinating historical figures, but can I pick a favourite? The task is a difficult one, so to make it easier for myself, I picked ten. Find out here which figures make the cut, as I rank them from number ten all the way down to number one.

Did my choices surprise you? Do you feel a particular character was unfairly maligned or skimmed over? The debate can continue in the WDF Facebook group, so I hope to see you there...soon!

Thankssss again for a brilliant decade of podding - you guys are the best!

Hello and welcome history friends patrons all to another special anniversary episode.

0:15.8

This one looking at my top 10 favorite historical figures from the last 10 years of podcasting. I'm really

0:24.0

looking forward to seeing what you guys think and maybe also what your favorite historical figures

0:29.9

from the last decade of history podcasting are. Now, as far as how we're going to do this, I should specify that when I say favourite, I don't mean that these people were the best or that they were even necessarily better than others.

0:46.3

And you'll also notice that I said my favourite, as in these are the individuals that made the greatest impact on me over the last decade, whether by their achievements,

0:56.1

their attributes, personalities, or all three and more. You know, you could actually view this as the

1:01.9

list of ten figures I'd most like to have over for dinner, but whether they'd actually

1:06.5

coexist is, of course, another story. You should also note that the list includes people

1:12.2

only that when diplomacy fails as coverage has actually included. So don't expect any

1:18.7

appearances from figures outside of our back catalogue, in other words, and that shouldn't

1:23.3

really be a surprise, because if I start talking about people that you've never really heard

1:27.3

of or I've never really talked about before, yeah, that'll be a bit because if I start talking about people that you've never really heard of

1:27.5

or I've never really talked about before, yeah, that'll be a bit of a cheat. So let's keep this fair.

1:33.8

And remember, obviously, this is just for fun. So if a name appears here, which you think doesn't

1:40.4

belong here, then feel free to start a podcast explaining why this is the case or better

1:45.8

yet, start a post in our When Diplomacy Fails group complaining about who you think missed

1:51.4

out on the top spot or any spot in this top 10. In each figure, I'll be giving a bit of background

1:58.6

as well as reminding you what episodes or series they appeared in,

2:02.3

so you can track them down and reminisce if you wish.

2:05.4

Among the questions I'll be asking of these figures as we progresses,

2:09.3

what improvements or changes do they implement, what did they stand for, what did they fail at or succeed at,

2:15.7

and just because they have a place here doesn't necessarily
