Summary

What if the voice in your head isn’t a guide but a bad narrator? We take a clear-eyed look at anxiety—the way it inflates risk, pushes you to hide, and convinces you that safety lives under the covers—and share a simple, counterintuitive move that changes everything: opposite action. Instead of waiting for calm, we walk through how to take anxiety with you and do the thing anyway, whether that’s going to the event, speaking up in the boardroom, starting a project, or having a hard conversatio...

What do you do when you feel anxious?

0:13.4

If you're anything like me, you want to retreat, you want to go under the covers, you want to stay

0:17.5

home, you want a quiet night in, you don't want to see anybody, everything feels

0:21.3

overwhelming and you just want to shut it all off. Well, what if we tried something else called

0:27.7

opposite action? This is what we need to understand about anxiety. It makes any situation

0:34.6

100,000, a million times worse and more dangerous in our minds

0:39.4

it's part of your experience? But it's just not in charge. Your anxiety will

1:30.6

have you believe that everything is dangerous. Everything's out to get you. You are under threat and you

1:35.1

need to be serious. You need to take care of yourself. That is what your imagination will tell you.

1:41.1

But reality, when you go out there, when you hit that event, when you go to the

1:44.4

boardroom, when you engage in life, reality proves that you're actually safe. So anxiety's

1:53.0

fine. It's part of the human experience. The danger is when it stops us from being who we are

1:58.7

and living our fullest expression. So instead of caving to it,

2:03.7

thinking, okay, I'm just going to like hide in my bed today, what if you just took it with you
