We get into perimenopause, appetite, GLP-1s, protein, muscle loss, essential amino acids, and why fat loss is not just about “trying harder.” This is a deeper conversation about building muscle, protecting your metabolism, and using the right tools without losing sight of the basics. → Visit https://getkion.com/drtyna for 20% off Topics Discussed: → How do GLP-1s affect muscle loss? → Why is fat loss harder after 40? → Do amino acids help preserve muscle? → How much protein do women need? → What causes perimenopause weight gain? This is your third round, and I'm so excited to have you back. Thanks for having me, Dr. Tina. I love coming here. I love getting to reconnect with you and just get into it. Yeah, we always get to get nerdy on the science. It's super fun. So,

0:22.9

you know, I first brought you on the show. We were talking about essential amino acids, and we

0:27.0

had you back for two rounds on that. And I'm a believer, and I'm sold on it. I think the more

0:33.3

that I live my life and realize that frailty is coming for all of us.

0:40.4

And it's just a matter of time.

0:41.9

And then I shared with you offline.

0:43.4

But my audience knows my mom recently almost just died.

0:45.8

And I did a whole podcast about frailty afterwards because I just believe so wholeheartedly

0:51.2

that it is preventable.

0:54.0

And then, you know, I gained in that process

0:56.5

of my mom going through this, I put on a quick 15 pounds. It was like cortisol stress so fast.

1:02.0

And just on my gut, like straight up cortisol. I was like, okay, I know what this. I know what's

1:07.2

happening here sucks, but I know what's happening. And then you and I were

1:11.3

chatting about how we could, you know, have a more nuanced conversation and really talk about body recomp. So I think that's, you know, that's going to be the topic of today. We're going to get into that. Well, to do it. I mean, I think it's, it's not relevant for everyone. Some people are just, just like born super lucky where they just I don't know have like the perfect genetic code to

1:29.8

just figure it out. But most of us, myself included,

1:32.3

have just gone through different phases of life where having, you know, having kids, I mean,

1:37.6

having kids was the first time for me where it's like I suddenly gained like 20 or 30 pounds.

1:41.7

I didn't even really realize what happened, you know. And that's not from

1:45.9

even being the woman, right? It gets pregnant, goes all this hormonal changes. It's just like

1:49.9

the stress of having a job and a family and not being able to prioritize the things I wanted to prioritize.

1:54.8
