The big concern of several administrations, certainly the Biden administration,

is making the playing field level with the People's Republic of China.

Hence the news within these last days.

At the Biden administration, after trying to explain to China that its manufacturing over

capacity is a threat to global trade, has raised the tariffs on some electric vehicles, some green technology,

to 102%.

That is meant to be protecting the American market, hence the term protectionism.

I welcome Varenique de Regi of the Mercata Center, writing most recently a Creator's

syndicate of another way to enhance American manufacturing rather than

building a bigger and bigger wall.

Varenika, a very good evening to you what could be done to make manufacturing more competitive even with the subsidized and what you'd have to say overly

manufactured Chinese goods. Good evening to you.

Good evening John. Well, before we start imposing tariffs that are effectively a tax on American consumers.

I think the best thing to do if you want to especially

promote American manufacturing would be to lift

a lot of the regulatory burden that our agencies inflict on manufacturing.

That's really what I wrote about this week.

I never really quite thought about it. We've been talking a lot about how

manufacturing is doing well and by all account. I mean the output is at a nearly all time

high, the value, it's pretty impressive.
