On the outside, the Richens seemed like the picture-perfect American family. Corey and Eric met at a Home Depot in 2009. Eric Richens owned a stone masonry business

and frequented the store. Corey was then working as a cashier, and soon enough, Eric fell in love with her.

The couple got married on June 15, 2013, the same day that Corey signed a prenuptial agreement, stating that in the event

of her husband's death, she would receive his stake in his business. In the following years,

Corey and Eric grew their family, having three sons. At the same time, Corey was determined to

advance her own career, diving into the real estate industry and starting a house flipping business.

Everything seemed to be going fine for the richens.

That is, until March 4, 2022, when Eric suddenly died.

Corey went from a loving wife to a mourning widow.

She wrote a picture book for children to help her sons

and others process their grief entitled, Are You With Me? On April 6th, 2023, Corey appeared on a local

television program, Good Things, Utah, to tell her story and promote the children's book.

One month later, that very station would report that she had been arrested and charged

with her husband's murder.
