Summary

Olivia "Libs" Mitchell was the 19th pro female finisher at the recent IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah.  She is also one of the MōTTIV training app coaches, having written all of the duathlon training plans for the app.  On the podcast, we learn about Libs' recent transition to short-course racing, and what advice she has for age-group triathletes, as someone who only recently entered the professional ranks!

What's up, Motivators, Taryn here. What if you could get training from one of the best triathletes in the world?

0:07.6

Well, you actually can. One of our coaches who wrote the duathlon plans that are in our

0:14.0

Motive training app is Libbs Mitchell, Olivia Mitchell. Now, Olivia is a phenomenal athlete herself. She just finished 19th in the

0:23.3

world in the half Iron Man World Championships in St. George in 2022. Fantastic performance.

0:29.9

Now, the reason that we got Libs to write the duathlon plans isn't because she's such a phenomenal

0:36.3

athlete and writes

0:37.5

amazingly sophisticated endurance training plans. We got her to write them because she

0:43.7

specializes in writing training plans that help real people achieve their goals in endurance sports.

0:50.7

She writes very accessible plans, very realistic plans, plans that reflect that the average

0:56.9

person might not be able to do the 20, 30 or 40 hour training weeks that a lot of professional

1:02.6

athletes do. And every single hour that you put into your training plan needs to have a positive

1:09.0

effect. You have to be really efficient with your

1:11.8

training plans. I've reviewed all of her training plans every single workout. I've been through

1:16.3

multiple times and they're great training plans. Now with her having such a great experience and a

1:21.9

good performance at St. George Half Iron Man World Championships, I thought we get her on to the podcast

1:26.8

to talk a little

1:27.7

bit about that race buildup and what us regular people can take from her buildup and apply to our

1:34.6

training. What can we take from that top level training plan distill it down to people that

1:41.4

have jobs and families and real life commitments.

1:45.0

So what are the pieces that she found to be tremendously helpful?

1:48.8

So we got her on to the podcast to talk about that.
