The Home of Common Sense. This is talk. You were probably amongst one of the few people who probably saw it coming a bit earlier than most people. I think it was about three o'clock on Wednesday. I was in the pub and somebody said, I think it's happening. I think it's on. There was a weird sort of silence in the days before now. So look back and think, oh, hang on, that was weird, wasn't it? Yeah. There's been lots of talk, you know, would it be mave?

Then there was all these sort of noises coming out down the street that the deputy prime minister

would join the camp that was saying, go early.

And I think once those inflation numbers came in and it's not going to get any better, it could get worse.

A nice calm, sunny summer of small boat crossings, plus, you know, interest rates not getting, not getting cut in the way they hope they would have been doing all likelihood Rwanda, hitting the courts and not going very well for the government.

I thought, you know, I think they thought, you know what, let's do it. Try and catch your

enemy by surprise. But actually, weirdly, it feels like Labor are a little bit more prepared

for a campaign than even the Tory Party was. They've got their buses up and running, they've got

their hacks, you know, joining them around the country. And the Tories, it felt like a little

bit of a slow burn last week. But now they really are hitting the policy buttons hard.

So last 96 hours, actually they've dominated the campaign,

first with their National Service announcement,

then with this pension stuff tomorrow,

and all the questions of Labor are now,

well, are you gonna do what the Tories are doing?

It's no, they're not setting a debate in the way

that you wanna be, if you're the opposition.

No, exactly.

You want to be controlling the day and they're not.

And they're going to try and get through this campaign with as little few policies as possible,

which I think could end up being...

Long those six weeks, it could be quite dangerous.
