Starbucks will lay off 61 corporate employees in Seattle, according to a state filing.

The cuts affect technology roles at the company's support center.

The move follows major corporate job cuts last year and store closures that led to nearly 370 layoffs of retail workers. Meanwhile, Starbucks is

opening a corporate office in Nashville with plans for up to 2,000 employees over the next

five years. Community efforts are ramping up to stop sound transit from further delaying a number

of stations in Seattle and its suburbs.

A station at Graham Street in South Seattle was first promised in the 90s.

That's according to organizer Violet Lavatai, who spoke today at a rally outside Rainier Barbecue on MLK Boulevard.
