Israel's military is expanding its ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

George Santos was expelled from Congress and Sandra Day O'Connor, the first female Supreme Court justice died on Friday.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

First up today, Israeli forces have pushed further south into Gaza and Israeli strikes are hitting densely populated areas in the territory.

The renewed fighting comes after a temporary pause fell apart on Friday.

The UN estimates that 1.8 million people have fled their homes.

That's about 80% of Gaza's population that's been internally displaced.

U.S. officials have said that after the war,

Gaza should be governed by the Palestinian

Authority which currently runs parts of the West Bank but this idea is unpopular

with Israel and many Palestinians. On Saturday Vice President Kamla Harris met with Arab leaders

in Dubai. In an address she condemned Thomas's October 7th terrorist attack and

criticized Israel's military response.

She also outlined five principles to guide the US's approach

to a post-war Gaza.

No forcible displacement, no reoccupation. no and no use of Gaza as a platform for terrorism.

Harris also said that a two-state solution was still the best path toward peace between the two sides.
