We are in Proverbs 6. Longer section here today versus 20 through 35 finishes up the chapter, but it's really one long commentary

on one topic. And so I'm going to try to tackle it all today. So listen carefully.

Verse 20, my son, keep thy father's commandment, forsake not the law of thy mother interesting that

Solomon continually comes back to this relational theme my son it's interesting as well

though he says hey mom and dad mom and dad and I think there's a subtlety there don't you

and that is mom and dad there ought to be unanimity when you are

speaking to your children, that what dad is teaching is what mom is teaching and vice versa. And there's

great strength and force in that alone. Bind them, he says to a son, continually upon thine heart. So make sure that as you

listen to the teaching of your mom and dad, moms and dads, make sure that when you are doing

your teaching, you're aiming for the heart, instructing the heart, and that as children, as teenagers, we are

trying to see beyond the rule, trying to see beyond the principle to see the heart and the

relationship behind it. So bind them continually upon thine heart, tie them about thy neck.
