I'm Jeff Pierre and this is the seven from the Washington Post. It's April 17th and it's marathon Monday in Boston for all my runners out there. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

First up, rival generals are fighting for control of Sudan.

The fighting began Saturday in the capital city of Khartoum,

between the Sudanese military and a powerful power military group.

At least 97 civilians have already been killed and thousands more have been injured.

Tensions between these forces have been growing for weeks.

The two leaders used to be allies and organized a coup in 2021.

But disagreements over how to share power

and how to integrate the power military group into the country's armed forces led to a falling out. Number two, at least four people were killed in a shooting in Alabama this weekend.

The shooting happened late Saturday during a 16-year- old's birthday party in the city of

Dayville at least 28 others were injured. Sergeant Jeremy Birkett of the Alabama

law enforcement agency gave updates about the incident at a news briefing yesterday.
