Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius X-XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We have lots to get to today, but before we get to any of it, we also have a ritual

0:55.9

on this show. And the ritual is one that we employ because every day when I open up this show,

1:01.2

I welcome you all to Black Talklandia, which again is the name that we give this space where we do

1:06.1

our best to embody the best in Black Talk radio tradition, which means said tradition.

1:11.7

It means that we have to have the very difficult and heavy conversations about the conditions of the world and our

1:15.9

role in making this world a better place. That is heavy stuff. And it's heavy stuff on top of

1:21.5

just the fact that the lives we live are also lifen. And frankly, we are all dealing with our own

1:27.2

personal heaviness. And so we have this

1:29.9

ritual on this show in order to help us to navigate the heavy with the spirit of joy, gratitude,

1:35.5

and appreciation. And we do that because we know that when we are rooted in joy, gratitude,

1:39.8

and appreciation, we cannot also be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression. And so the name of

1:45.2

this ritual, or this segment, which is a ritualistic type segment, is called Moment of Gratitude,

1:49.9

and it is a ritual that is so simple. It goes a little something like this. In just a minute,

1:56.6

you're going to hear music. The music is going to be an invitation to you to join the rest of us,

2:01.2

because when we hear the music, we are going to collectively begin taking the slowest,

2:05.0

the deepest, the most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart and big a rating, and troubled mind

2:09.2

cleansing, the most weary, so uplifting and amazingly juicy breath that you've ever taken

2:14.7

with a couple million people at once as we kick off our most

2:17.7

important segment of every single day. It to do it.

2:53.6

And every day you deserve to take some time for yourself and get rooted in joy.

2:58.1

Shout out to all of you in the Urban View community.
