Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

0:20.0

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much.

Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. So we got a lot to get to this morning. And of course, before we get to any of it,

0:55.3

we also have a ritual on this show. And this ritual is pretty important because whether we are

0:59.5

talking about the serious issues of the world or potentially serious issues of the hereafter

1:04.2

or serious issues that we are experiencing as individuals, the reality is we have to do more

1:10.5

than just tap into our intellect. We have to do more than just tap into our intellect.

1:12.2

We have to do more than tap into our intellect when it comes to how we are going to engage with

1:16.5

each other, when it comes to how we feel about ourselves, when it comes to how we grapple with the

1:20.8

issues that our communities are facing. And because of that, we have a ritual on this show.

1:25.2

It's called a moment of gratitude. And that ritual is allowed to intentionally guide us into a place where we can be rooted into a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation.

1:35.0

Now, the reason we want to be rooted in joy, gratitude, and appreciation is because we understand.

1:40.1

And the science has confirmed that when we are rooted in gratitude, we cannot be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression.

1:45.9

When you're rooted in joy, it's really hard to be depressed, right?

1:49.1

So we use this ritual every single day to make sure that before we get to the serious heavy topics of this, of this show, of this channel, that we are in the best, most centered space that we can be.

2:00.4

The ritual is pretty simple. So simple. In fact, it goes a little something like this. In just a minute, you're going to hear music. The music's going to be an invitation to you, sung to you by a group known as the beautiful chorus. And that invitation says, please join the rest of us because when we hear the music, we are going to collectively begin taking the slowest, the deepest, most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart invigorating, troubled mind cleansing,

2:21.3

a weary soul uplifting, the most amazingly juicy breath that you've ever taken with a couple

2:26.3

million people at once as we kick off our most important segment of every single day.

2:31.4

It is time for our moment of gratitude. Every day, folks, every day we got to do it and every day it matters.

3:05.6

Shout out to the team.

3:06.6

Shout out to the Urban View family,

3:08.3

the Nubians, the podcast community, the YouTube community. We got everybody. I just, I appreciate
