Welcome to the '5th Thing' with Amy & Kat!! Today’s quote is: “On the voyage, don’t get too attached to the raft.” Related to that, Kat shares one of her favorite stories about “the log in the water” which is a super helpful analogy that you’ll definitely appreciate. Amy then goes over some listener emails that led to chats about the following things: slip-ups in life don't define you, our chick-fil-a orders, jam vs. jelly, fiction book recommendations, Young Life family camp, kind notes of encouragement, and Kat’s WEIRD hobby of reading negative reviews online. Lol.

0:00.0 | My name is Joshua Topolsky and I have a new podcast called What Future. |
0:04.5 | But I want to tell you that I'm being forced by my producer to record a promo telling you about my show. |
0:10.1 | And I'm not trying to force you to listen to it. |
0:12.6 | And maybe you're not interested in internet culture and the future of life on planet Earth. |
0:18.1 | And why John Carpenter movies are so good. |
0:20.6 | You may just want to listen to a podcast about, I don't know, sports or whatever Joe Rogan talks about. |
0:26.6 | And that's fine, you know, no judgment. |
0:28.4 | But if you like what you're hearing and I know that you do, you can listen to all of what future on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. |
0:58.4 | The podcast and that's what you really missed brings you back to the choir room for a gloriously gleeky rewatch of all six masterfully musical seasons of Glee. |
1:19.4 | Join cast members Kevin MacKale and Jenna Uschkewitz for never before heard stories from the cast, crew, celebrities and you, the fans from McKinley High to New York City, from the choir room to nationals and from the Super Bowl to a world tour. |
1:32.9 | Listen to and that's what you really missed on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. |
1:39.4 | Happy Tuesday. I'm Amy and I'm Kat and welcome to the fifth thing. |
1:49.4 | Today's quote is from Instagram and account at the loving avoidant, which Kat, you first introduced me to this account. It's not when I follow. |
1:59.4 | Well, you sent me something from the one time. Oh really, well, you must have seen something and then you sent it to me and then I would know and check some stuff out and I saw a post where they had said on the voyage. |
2:14.4 | Don't get too attached to the raft and I was like, Oh, that's good. Why are you making that face? That's so good because that's like the story about. |
2:24.4 | I've told the story about the log in your drowning. Have I told you that story? Yeah, I think so, but say it again. Tell it. |
2:29.4 | Yeah, okay. So that's how we describe a lot of times addictions or eating disorders or anything like that as these things, whatever it is that we choose to grab onto for the sake of this. Let's say our eating disorder. |
2:40.4 | I've choose to hold onto this eating source like a log. So if I'm like in an ocean or a river or a lake in this storm comes and there's all these rapids and I'm drowning and then all of a sudden I see this log or this piece of drift. |
2:53.4 | Would it whatever and I hold onto it and I grab onto it and I float and it's keeping me safe and it's keeping me alive during the storm. |
2:59.4 | And then after the storm I become so afraid that I like can't let go of the log or this piece of drift, whatever it is. |
3:05.4 | And so now it's keeping me from like swimming to the shore or getting to where I need to go because I'm so scared of letting go of it because at one point it helped me. |
3:13.4 | Yeah, that's what that quote is saying. Yeah, okay. I've got an email from Esther in Kentucky. She said, Hey Amy, I saw a bird fall from the sky this morning. |
