When I started already gone back in the spring of 2016, one of the things I wanted to do

was focus on lesser-known cases, specifically lesser-known unresolved cases.

People like Cindy Moore, Akita Irvin, Carson McDowell, Nikki Wells, people whose friends,

family and loved ones are still hoping for answers.

Today, I'm bringing you another case from the lesser-known unresolved file.

The bizarre disappearance of a teenage girl, a high school senior who was enjoying her last days of freedom before school resumed in the fall.

If you're a native detreiter like myself, you know who General Anthony Wayne is.

You know that he gave his name to the county where Detroit and many of its suburbs are located.

But today we're leaving Michigan and heading south to Ohio.

An area perched along Interstate 75 about halfway between Columbus and Indianapolis, Indiana,

just 30 miles north of Dayton, Ohio, sits the small community of Piqua.

Like much of the Midwest, Piqua was once home to Native American tribes who gave the community its name

in the late 1700s General Anthony Wayne established a fourth there.

And while the natives were driven out, the name they bequeathed on the community remains.

Today's story takes place nearly 200 years after Wayne built a fort on that spot.

We are in the mid-1990s when 18-year-old Shaileen Farrell, the oldest child of Darling Farrell,

is enjoying the last few weeks of summer before starting her senior year of high school.

Shaileen, a lovely young woman who never gave her mother any trouble,

is about to do something out of character that will set the town of Piqua on edge.

So come with me to a sunny summer Monday in August when a teenage girl takes the family car on an

errand from which she will never return. Shaileen Farrell was a typical teenager.

She liked music and makeup. She liked spending time with her best friend.
