all right beautiful people today is thursday december the 12th wherever you're at

and whatever time this is hey how you do and hope you are all well there's so much to get

into but before i jump into the news i want to share with you something that happened to me last

night or that i was a part of last night not happened to me when you say it that way it with you something that happened to me last night, or that I was a part of last night, not happen to me. When you say it that way, it sounds like something tragic happened to me. But something I got to participate in last night was this really great event at the New York Urban League. It was a town hall on which I was a panel member, and the town hall's focus was, or I should say the title of the town hall was our kids, our future,

a focus on public education. I just want to start by shouting out New York Urban League chapter president, Arva Rice, just an amazing sister here in the city who's doing some really phenomenal

work and the phenomenal Dr. Misha Porter, who is New York City's Department of Education school

chancellor or former school chancellor. It was really an honor to be on the panel with both of them.

Arva was a great moderator.

And we had this phenomenal conversation about culturally responsive education, which is an area

I've done a lot of work in.

One of my first jobs out of college was when I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,

after a whole host of racist incidents ended up having me and my comrade as being literally driven out of Penn State University under the protection of the armed guard of the new Black Panther Party and members of the Fruit of Islam.
