| 0:42.2 | So this is a segment called The Moment of Gratitude, and it is a segment that allows us to engage in a ritual. |
| 0:48.0 | We're basically, we are intentionally tapping into the emotions of joy, gratitude, and appreciation. |
| 0:53.9 | Not because they're the best of the emotions, but because we know that when we are rooted in joy, gratitude, and appreciation, we cannot also be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression. That's really important work. So that means optimism isn't just a, let's be polyanish about it. No, optimism is a tool for survival. It's a tool to help us thrive. So the ritual, again, or I should I say the segment again, is called the moment of gratitude. And it's a fairly simple process that we do together. It's so simple. In fact, it goes a little something like this. In just a minute, you all hear music sung to you by a group called the beautiful chorus. And when you hear that music, you're going to be invited to join the rest of us, because when we hear it, we are going to collectively begin taking the slowest, deepest, most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart, invigorate, and troubled mind cleansing, and weary soul, uplifting the most amazingly juicy breath that you've ever taken with a couple million people at once as we kick off our most important segment of every single day. |
| 1:44.8 | It is time for our moment of gratitude. Every day, folks, every day we got to do it and every day we got to do it and every day it matters. And today I'm going to share with you a story. And this is a story shared by an account called Global Pockets. And this is an account I now follow on threads. And they tell a variety of stories. It's literally where they take stories that are shared with them and they reshare the stories or some of them might actually even be fictional. The idea is not necessarily |
| 2:38.7 | that the story is a verified news account. It's more of a testimony type space, if you will. |
| 2:45.0 | Some of the stories are good. Some of them not so much. I just began following this account |
| 2:48.3 | a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to share with you a story that I read on this account because it speaks to the power of what one person |
| 2:58.5 | with a little bit of empathy, care, and love can do and the difference that they can make in |
| 3:03.3 | the world. And as we have been talking a lot over the past two months about self-care as a function |
| 3:07.4 | of community care and community care is a function of self-care. And this month in December, we're focusing on the fine-tuning that we can do as individuals to make our place in the world and this world better. I thought this was a good story that allowed us to be reminded of the power that single acts of kindness are able to have. And really, it's not a |
| 3:25.0 | single act of kindness, but it's a kind consideration that turned into a pattern and a habit |
| 3:29.6 | that is going to make up the bulk of the story that I share with you. All right? Here we go. |
