Summary

Welcome to Minisode Monday, where we kick off the week with something quick and actionable -- to make you more magnetic and effective -- that you can implement right away. This time around, we talk about an easy, everyday habit you can cultivate to renew contact with old acquaintances (lest they -- and you -- be forgot)! Let's get to it! The Cheat Sheet: Every single day, text one or two people with whom you haven't spoken in a while. If you use social media: As guest David Burkus recommended when he was on the show: use your newsfeed. Instead of merely "liking" something about which your old acquaintance is posting on social media, send a text or email. If you don't use social media, open your phone's text messaging app and scroll all the way down -- the people at the bottom are the ones you haven't spoken to in ages. Greet them with a sentence or two to let them know you're thinking of them, and make it clear a return response isn't required. Let us know how you put today's Minisode Monday into practice! Tweet with @TheArtofCharm in your response or write to Jordan directly: [email protected] (he actually reads everything)! Hey, Jordan Harbinger here from the Art of Charm. Welcome to Minnesota, Monday.

0:03.7

You're a weekly shot of personal development espresso.

0:06.5

Happy to be here with you kicking off the week with something quick and of course,

0:09.8

actionable that you can put in the action right away. It's going to make you more magnetic.

0:13.5

It's going to make you more effective today. It's all me. I want to tell you how to re-engage

0:17.8

old contacts via text. This is simple, but most people don't do it. It's very easy as well.

0:23.5

It's just a matter of habit and getting into the flow. So this is something I literally do every

0:28.5

single day. This happens in the morning before I've done just about anything else.

0:32.4

I'm sitting here with my tea or my coffee or let's be honest, both and this takes less than five

0:37.2

minutes. This practice is one of the reasons my personal and professional network is so large

0:43.5

and so responsive and it takes very little effort. So if it sounds super simple and easy,

0:48.6

that's because it is. I expect you to do this right after you listen to this episode here today,

0:52.8

right now. So every single day, text one or two people you haven't spoken to in a while.

0:59.4

Make it something nice. You're not doing this just to make people love you. You're doing it

1:02.8

because you actually love people and there's a difference there. And I know you're thinking,

1:06.1

I'm giving you too much credit, but it's true. You do. So the trick is not just doing this once or twice.

1:10.6

Like right now and then tomorrow while this is fresh in your mind, this episode, the trick is

1:15.2

making this a consistent practice. Here are a couple ways to do that. One, use the news feed. We've

1:21.0

talked about this before. This comes from AOC guest David Berkis. If you're into social media,

1:26.3

you see a lot in your news feed too much actually. And you see people you barely remember or people

1:30.8

you know well, but seldom speak with you've clicked like. Maybe you made a comment on the post.

1:35.4

Instead of doing that, send them a text or email about the event that they are posting about.
