Summary

As we reach the halfway point of the year, I reflect on the importance of slowing down long enough to evaluate where we've been, where we're headed, and how God is shaping us in the process. Rather than chasing constant productivity, I encourage you to embrace the natural rhythms of each season, recognizing that every season has a purpose. Just as creation doesn't bloom year-round, neither are we meant to live at the same pace all the time.

Hello, friends, welcome back to this big cheesy podcast for a solo check-in episode, because today or tomorrow, when this comes out, is the halfway point of 2026. And I know it's kind of cheesy to wax poetic about the passage of time, but why, why does it feel like January was last month and also like 2026 has been a year long in its own right?

0:27.9

I don't know.

0:29.2

But one thing that I really love about setting intentions and creating something of a plan at the beginning of the year is that when that halfway point

0:40.2

comes, you can kind of do a check-in and you can do a reset and you can re-evaluate. You can change

0:47.3

things if you want to. I have pivoted for sure on some of the goals and intentions that I said

0:54.1

at the beginning of the year.

0:55.6

And this is a great time to do that.

0:58.1

It also is when I like to just kind of not get my ducks in a row because they're never in a row,

1:03.8

but just look at where things are headed as we head into the second half of the year.

1:08.4

What do I like?

1:09.9

What's worked?

1:10.6

What hasn't? Kind of similar to

1:13.2

the episode that I just recently did about how I evaluate things when we end a homeschool year.

1:19.9

What worked? What didn't? What are we taking with us? What do we want to add in? And I think,

1:25.1

I know I've been talking a lot lately lately I just did a really great episode with my

1:29.1

personal friend and nutritionist Brooke about our disconnect from our bodies and I think that this

1:36.3

is part of the way that we really step back into present reality and into our bodies is we just

1:43.7

get intentional about checking in with ourselves and with the

1:47.1

Lord. And that's hopefully something that we're doing daily, weekly. But I do like to have these

1:52.9

just kind of points that I know. All right, this is the halfway point. Let's do a little bit of a check-in.

1:59.4

One of my favorite things about slowing down, which I've been talking about pretty extensively for the last almost year, which is crazy, is the ability to ebb and flow with the seasons as they come and starting to grow in and understand what each season is meant to bring.

2:21.3

There's a necessary caveat here that I live in southern Louisiana.
