When the votes got counted from this month's selection, Joe Biden carried the state of Michigan

by more than 150,000 votes.

But that hasn't stopped President Trump and his allies from trying to figure out a way

somehow to swing the state's 16 electoral votes into his column.

On Friday, the president invited the GOP leaders of the Michigan legislature to the White House

as part of an apparent effort to subvert the will of the people, and by legislative fiat

direct that pro-Trump electors be selected for the electoral college.

Those leaders after the meeting gave a little sign they were prepared to do so, saying

in a statement they had not seen, quote, any information that would change the outcome

of the election.

Still, the mere fact that President Trump, in his last two months in office, would try

to toss the results of an American election, has created what many view as a national scandal,

made even worse by the fact that very few Republicans have been willing to call them

out for what he has been trying to do.
