Hello, everyone. This is moderate rebels. I'm Ben Norton, joined by my co-host Max Blumenthal,

and today we're talking about the recent election in Mexico. We've done a few episodes on

Mexico with friend of the show, John Ackerman, talking about the situation with the progressive

president, Andres Manuel Lopo

known as AMLO, AMLO, and his new center-left party Morena, which broke the bipartisan

dictatorship in Mexico of the pre-party and the pawn party. We'll talk about all of that today.

And we're also going to talk

about the election results. There was just an election important federal elections for the

Congress and for the governorships. And the alliance led by the Morana Party of Omlo, also including

the Workers Party and the Green Party. This is a kind of center-left, left-wing

alliance. It won slightly over 50% of the seats in the Congress. So we're going to talk today

about the situation, especially in light of the insane propaganda we've seen in the media,

with magazines like The Economist Fre freaking out, also other major media

outlets in both the United States and in Latin America, freaking out, claiming that Omlo is a

wannabe socialist dictator. I mean, it's incredible. This is a center-left progressive president,

certainly not a socialist, but they're treating him as if he's the reincarnation of Fidel Castro.

So to discuss that today, we're joined by a Mexican freelance journalist, friend of the show, really good reporter.
