So what exactly happened? That's what we're going to go over today.

We're going to talk about who was

taken out, what organization did he run? What does this kind of mean for what's going on with the

security situation in Mexico and what sort of involvement might we see the United States playing

in with respect to counter-narcotics and counterterrorism within Mexico in the future?

So first things first, let's jump in with kind of like a once over in the world on what just

happened. So on February 22nd, Mexican security forces killed Nemizio. Okay, first of all,

most powerful trafficking organizations responsible for distributing vast amounts of cocaine,

methamphetamine, and increasingly fentanyl into the United States. In a retaliatory show of force,

gang members instigated a coordinated wave of violence in at least 20 of Mexico's 32 states,

setting fire to vehicles, blocking roads and highways, enforcing civilian lockdowns across major cities,

underscoring the reach and power cartel groups continue to wield throughout the country.
