Good morning. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Tuesday, May 5th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the ceasefire conundrum. The future of the already hanging by a thread

between the U.S. and Iran is hanging even more by a thread today and could hinge on what happens today in the Strait of

Pormuz.

The head of US Central Command now says that the US shot down Iranian cruise missiles and sank

six small Iranian boats Monday and two US vessels were able to transit the strait.

But there's also video of flames tearing through an oil port in the United Arab Emirates after an Iranian drone attack that injured three people.

This is the first such attack since the ceasefire went into effect a month ago.

With that, has the truce fallen apart?

President Trump declined to say, but did tell Fox in an interview that Iran would be blown off the face of the earth if U.S. ships are targeted.

The president clearly not happy with the state of things there, also clearly not happy with

the state of things in the U.S., at least when it comes to his latest polling numbers.

Our country's booming now, despite the fact that we're in a, I call it a mini-war, because that's all they are.

They did a poll on the war with Iran, and they said only 32% of the people like it.

Well, I don't like it, and I don't like war at all, but we're equipped better than it.

We have the greatest military in the woods.

Oil at a new high for the year on Monday, closing at over $114.

Barrel. Gas prices in the U.S. are now at 448, up more than 30 cents in a week.

Number two, the fireworks explosion. A city known as the fireworks capital of the world, just essentially

went up in flames.
