our passage. That's the weight of the passage today, but I don't think we can understand it without

its context. So I'm going to go back and start in verse one of Ephesians 2, but we'll get to that

here in a moment. If you want to go ahead and grab that Bible and get there. We're in week two

of an eight-week series on the communicable attributes of God. We covered earlier this year

the incommunicable attributes of God, those aspects of God's that are just God, like just God

is omnipotent, just God is transcendent, just God is eternal. His godness is marked by these

attributes that you and I can never be. And now what I want to do over the next, well now seven

weeks is look at the communicable

attributes of God, those attributes that God possesses imperfection. And yet because we are made

in his image, he is growing us, maturing us into an expression of those attributes that he is

perfect in so that he might be made more

and more visible among his creation. Here's the definition that I'll be using. I used it last

week. Probably see it every week at the beginning. The communicable attributes of God are those

characteristics of God that he, in some measure, shares with human beings since people

are made in his image.

And then I put Genesis 1, 26, 27.

That's where you hear that we were made in the image of God.

And so last week, we started with love.

This week, we're going mercy.

Next week, we're going grace. Next week we're going grace because those
