Mel Russo, native New Yorker and old friend, reminisces with J about the early days and shares an inside take on the closing of Yoga Works and the future of the studio model. They discuss moving west, living in the east-village back when the rents were low, managing and owning a center, having to close shop and take a gig at Yoga Works, why it all fell apart there and what was happening when the pandemic hit, the current set of choices teachers face, and reaffirming the tiny beautiful moments that make yoga feel meaningful and worthwhile.

0:53.3	it seems, right? To wear the mask or not wear the mask. And I don't know where you are in my state of Pennsylvania, as I think I said last week,
0:57.4	they are starting to reopen in stages, parts of the state. And I just think that a lot of people
1:05.4	are looking at the numbers and saying, this is how many people died where I live.
1:11.2	And they're looking at,
1:12.9	oh, these people are all older than me.
1:15.0	And then they feel like, wow, did we just destroy our whole economy
1:22.8	and people's businesses and lives unnecessarily? And then there's the other folks who are like,
1:32.0	you're placing your privileged life over other people's. And I have been sort of avoiding
1:41.4	having some direct conversations about that on the show because I just
1:48.2	didn't want to get into stuff. I don't want to get into too much controversy. I don't think that I can
1:53.4	emotionally deal with like a barrage of emails. Or, you know, like some of you might remember,
